Lake Highlands has been referred to Dallas’ once-hidden gem that’s no longer hidden. It’s the affordable version of University Park. There’s neighborhood pride, but not much pretension. The suburb for people who don’t want to move all the way out to the suburbs.

Lake Highland’s borders are ill-defined, dipping almost south enough to touch White Rock Lake and reaching north into Richardson. But importantly for many, the schools in Lake Highlands are part of Richardson ISD. The sector of elementary schools, White Rock, Lake Highlands, and Merriman Park, serves as a powerful draw.

Lake Highlands isn’t a time machine. It isn’t stuck in the past. Far from it. New houses are rapidly replacing old ones, second stories are being added seemingly everywhere, and new apartment buildings are adding value to the district.

The geography is different than the flatlands you might find in neighboring suburbs. Lake Highlands has hills and valleys and roads that bend. Many who have never ventured this far east are surprised by just how steep the streets are and the beautiful scenery that comes with it.

Lake Highlands is the perfect transition city because it’s bordered by neighboring cities while also providing easy access to highways. A perfect landing spot without having the headache of being in a super congested neighborhood. You’ll be close to so much Dallas has to offer with trails leading right into the bountiful nature of White Rock Lake or just a few minutes away from Northpark Mall for Dallas best shopping experience.

The area is more established and the apartments are still really nice. The great part about Lake Highlands apartments is the affordable pricing that comes with it. There’s a perfect corner for nearly anyone interested in comfortable, relatively affordable family living with quick access to big city amenities. A community is important and that why we’ve checked out all the spots so you can take advantage of the vibe this suburb is known for.
